Yaesu FTM-500DE is a new dual band mobile transceiver with high performances that can operate both in analogue mode on FM or digital on C4FM, with up to 50 W of transmission power, more than other similar models, without the need for a separate power amplifier.
One of the main novelties of the FTM-500DE from Yaesu is the incorporation of the audio enhancement system “AESS” already known in the model FT-710. With this system, clear, high-quality sound is achieved with expansion by varying the phase, output balance, and frequency characteristics of the front and main speaker outputs. strong>, one on the main unit and one on the control unit. The front panel features a built-in dual high output 6W speaker that is combined with the 3W main unit speaker.
The FTM-500DE features an easy-to-read 2.4-inch color touch screen (approx. 6 cm). Here both bands are displayed simultaneously and all operating parameters are easily readable. The screen can be tilted to offer an optimal viewing angle.
Another special feature of the FTM-500DE is the integrated Bluetooth connectivity, which allows operation in “hands-free” mode, that is, it offers us the possibility of making radio calls without an annoying microphone cable and without constantly pressing the PTT button while driving, in this case complying with current traffic regulations, through a Bluetooth hands-free speakerphone.
At just 15cm wide, 6cm high and 6cm deep, the control unit of the FTM-500DE is manageable, yet large enough for the powerful 6W loudspeaker. The main unit is compact, measuring 14cm x 4cm x 13cm and fits almost anywhere. Together they both weigh only 1.4kg. The 13.8 V / 12 A supply is possible via a mains adapter, via the vehicle battery or with a portable battery or on a picnic or expedition.
