The AOR AR‑DV3 is a high-precision desktop digital radio receiver, featuring a wide coverage range from 100 kHz to 3 GHz, designed for radio enthusiasts as well as security, emergency, and amateur radio applications. Its advanced RF architecture incorporates 11-band VHF/UHF filters and SAW filters in the IF, optimizing the suppression of out-of-band interference. It features double superheterodyne conversion alongside direct sampling SDR, delivering crisp reception across the entire spectrum.
The previous model, AR-DV1, has been and remains a benchmark for digital radio enthusiasts. Now, the AR-DV3 represents a significant evolution, focusing primarily on processing speed, reception quality, and a much more modern interface.
The AOR AR‑DV3 supports analog modes (AM, AM-synchro, FM/NFM/WFM, SSB, CW) and digital modes (DMR, D-STAR, P25, NXDN, TETRA, dPMR, etc.), featuring automatic mode detection and built-in digital decoding. Its ultra-fast cyber-search function, reaching up to 600 steps per second, allows for efficient scanning of large frequency blocks.
The eight-level backlit color display, custom audio equalizer, and SD card recording complete a professional user experience, all housed in a compact and lightweight 1.5 kg chassis.
NEW FEATURES
1. Display and Visualization
-
High-resolution color display: The most obvious change. The AR-DV1 used a basic monochrome LCD screen. The AR-DV3 incorporates a 2.4-inch color TFT display, providing better visualization of digital modes and frequencies.
-
Real-time spectrum analyzer: Thanks to the new display and processor, the DV3 offers a much smoother and more detailed spectrum visualizer to locate nearby signals.
2. Signal Processing (Improved SDR)
-
Advanced SDR Architecture: The DV3 uses a new digital signal processing (DSP) engine. This results in faster decoding and greater stability when automatically identifying digital modes (D-STAR, DMR, P25, etc.).
-
Sensitivity Improvement: Internal circuitry has been optimized to reduce background noise, allowing for clearer reception of weak signals compared to the DV1.
3. Digital Modes and Functionalities
-
Full TETRA Decoding: Although the DV1 received updates for TETRA, the AR-DV3 is factory-optimized to handle TETRA network traffic (including GSSI and time slots) more efficiently (via activation key, optional).
-
SDXC Card Slot: Supports higher-capacity cards for longer audio recordings and configuration storage.
4. Connectivity and Control
-
USB-C Port: The DV3 upgrades to the modern USB-C standard for PC connection and remote control, replacing the older ports found on the previous model.
-
Video/I-Q Output: Facilitates connection to external software (SDR) for deeper signal analysis.
5. Ergonomics and Design
-
Simplified User Interface: Menus have been redesigned to be more intuitive, taking advantage of the color screen to categorize functions.
-
Compact Size: Maintains AOR’s signature robustness but with a more refined finish and more precise controls.
