The Yaesu SSM-518A is a professional single-ear earpiece headset designed specifically for Yaesu handheld transceivers featuring a single-pin connector with a threaded screw mount. Developed as the official replacement and upgrade for the discontinued SSM-57A model, it delivers a practical solution for discreet, hands-free listening and clear communications, routing received audio directly to the ear and providing manual transmission via an in-line Push-To-Talk (PTT) switch.

Equipped with a 15 mm audio driver delivering up to 100 mW output and an optimized electret microphone cartridge with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 16,000 Hz, the SSM-518A ensures crisp, well-defined voice transmission in moderate background noise environments. Its ergonomic over-the-ear design and integrated clothing clip keep the assembly secure during continuous movement during security details, events, or outdoor activities.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Is it compatible with transceivers that originally used the SSM-57A?

Yes, the SSM-518A is the official updated version developed by Yaesu to replace the SSM-57A, featuring the same single-pin connector and matching electrical and acoustic specifications.

Can I use this earpiece with 2-pin walkie-talkies (such as Motorola or Kenwood)?

No, this accessory uses a dedicated 1-pin threaded connector designed specifically for compatible Yaesu radios (such as the VX-110, VX-150, VX-146, VX-246, and FT-60 series), so it is not directly compatible with 2-pin sockets.
